It’s summer 2009, and I’m in the middle of the run of “Kiss Me, Kate” at the Aurora Theatre. I’m having a
great time with the whole cast, especially Bethany Irby Okie. She’s a doll and a powerhouse performer. I
love “brushing up my Shakespeare” with her. The casting of her as the second gangster was inspired.
Also just found out I’ll be appearing at the Aurora in the spring as Uncle Winston in the Atlanta premiere
of “A Catered Affair.” It will be directed by Freddie Ashley, a friend I’ve known for years but have never
worked with. He’s currently directing “Grey Gardens” at Actor’s Express. Ann-Carol will be music directing,
of course. I’m very excited about this project.
I have to give a shout out to Bert Osborne, a critic for the Sunday Paper, who recognized me as one of
Atlanta’s Best Supporting Actors of the 2008 season, for my work in “Tent Meeting.” I’m honored to be in the
company of Chris Kayser and Eric Little. Thanks, Bert, and I’ll try not to disappoint in this new season.
I’ll have the holidays off this year, and I’ll miss my Alliance “Christmas Carol” buddies, but it will be time,
after “KMK” closes , to get a little rest.
Thanks for stopping by... and stay tuned...
